Aslam’s Plight pt 18 – Leaning Castle

We arrive in a room to see a vampire leaning over a woman. Vornagust wasted no time and rushes in a rebuke the vampire to unhand the woman.

A battle ensued and the very furniture came alive as we dispatched both the furniture and the vampire. After a few moments we uncovered the woman’s name is Gertrude. We remember that we saw her mother when we first arrived to this accursed land. The local townsfolk called her mother Mad Mary.

We decided to advance further in the keep and kept Gertrude with us for her own protection. WE arrived to a room with a tub filled with blood. I hate this place.

Ander manages to find a secret door in another room. Before we left the room frost throws a rock in the tub and blood creature comes out leaps onto the ceiling and begins crawling around. Frost Vornagust, and I each tried to attack the creature and though I am sure I hit our attacks appeared to have missed.

As we continue to progress through the secret passage, I examine some of the statues which depicted heroes of the realm from long ago. Looking up the spiral staircase a large crystal is pulsating with a reddish hue.

I hear the call of the air, as if a child and someone dangled a toy, I fire a shot at the crystal. My first shot missed perhaps a omen, or just bad luck. My second shot finds its mark and the whole tower begins to shake. Creature appear above us swooping down to attack us. I continue to fire at the crystal until I destroy it.

The tower shakes violently and the creatures nearly upon us until Frost summons a barrier which destroys them. We can hear the hissing of undead and the horde of enemies swarming on our position. In a booming voice we heard “You dare disrespect me in my house on my wedding day”

It was Strahd and we were in for a fight.

  1. I think Kreigos put it best: “Investigate FIRST and then attack.” Well, ya done did it now. You made Strahd really, really angry. Before he was entertained, then mildly annoyed, but now…oh, boy. >-)
