Know Thy Players – The Gathering

Game Date: 9/14/2019

The world came to an end, and a new world was refashioned and shall be called Pathfinder Second Edition (2E).

So I ended my Pathfinder first edition game at the beginning of summer ahead of the new release for Pathfinder 2E. After wrapping up all the characters story lines we retired the characters and rolled up new characters.

I took on one extra players, bringing my total players to seven. I must say I am enjoying Pathfinder 2E so far. I like the rules even though I still need to get a better handle on some of them.

We start the adventure out with the players at the tavern which is the hub for transactions for services. A old favorite NPC makes a return and request the players to perform a quest for him. Deliver and letter and a small chest to his previous chief.

I was pleased at how well my players handle this quest. I took some time to have them plan out their trip, based on the map and secure their provisions.

When confronted with the chief they were very diplomatic and the encounter went off without a hitch 🙂

The third and final encounter involved stumbling across an ambush. The party had to contend with the UNDEAD. Combat ensued and I again have to stress I really like Pathfinder 2E and think I will like it even more as I get comfortable with the rules.

The battle was an epic one, sadly I did not kill any players 😛 But they got spanked a bit 😉

The gaming sessions lasted about five hours and forty-five minutes and everyone told me they had a good time. I must admit I was nervous as I had numerous players telling me how much they were looking forward to my game. That added pressure to me to make sure it was worth their time 😉

The highlights of the game were:

  • Using animated maps
  • Giving each player a unique magical item
  • Playing the game with my friends 🙂

The low points of the game were:

  • Some slow down with looking up rules
  • A mix-up with one of my monsters (forgot to add the attack stats)
  • Some of the game mechanics are vague and will require more research

The players have given me so much background information to work with. I have already started plotting where the adventure shall head next. As I slowly start to sprinkle in plot points related to my overall story arc.

I am so excited that everyone is on board with this game, and I look forward to seeing this campaign grow and evolve.

Stay tuned for future updates related to my game where I hope to share some of the characters in my game. After I speak with the legal department and consult with copyright and trademark attorneys. 🙄
